Our Vision

Insaan Website is committed to promoting Urdu poetry and literature. At the same time, it is important to clarify that introducing Urdu readers only to Urdu poetry and literature is not its sole objective. Its broader vision is to familiarize Urdu-speaking audiences with the poetry and literature of all the world's languages.

A Resource for Researchers & Scholars

Through this platform, we aim to create a comprehensive collection of literary resources that will make it easier for researchers, scholars, and students to access relevant materials for their studies and research in various fields of literature.

Promoting the Urdu Language

Another important objective of the Insaan Website is the promotion of the Urdu language. However, we do not believe that simply launching a website is enough to promote Urdu. We believe that true language development is only possible by becoming a part of the lives of ordinary people and sharing in their joys and hardships.

Language as Livelihood

Our vision is to make the language capable of contributing to people's livelihoods and economic well-being. After meeting the essential operational expenses of the website, any financial support or income generated through this platform will be dedicated to helping those who are economically disadvantaged and socially marginalized.

A World of Literature for Urdu Readers

As mentioned earlier, one of the fundamental missions of the Insaan Website is to introduce Urdu readers to the literary heritage of all languages across the world.

Our Objectives

1. To promote the languages and literature of the world. 2. To promote the Urdu language and literature. 3. To help address the problems faced by ordinary people. 4. To use the income generated by the website to support economically disadvantaged individuals and families. 5. To secure the rightful place and recognition of the Urdu language — a responsibility that the Urdu-speaking community must collectively fulfill. 6. To make language a means of livelihood and economic opportunity for ordinary people. 7. To unite scholars, intellectuals, and literary communities in pursuit of these shared goals. 8. To emphasize that action comes before achievement, because no destination can be reached without sincere effort.

A Pledge to Stand Together

Let us walk hand in hand with ordinary people and pledge to stand beside them in every aspect of life — education, livelihood, housing, healthcare, employment, marriage, and every other challenge they may face. Let us treat their hardships as our own and make every possible effort to help resolve them. Let us commit ourselves not only to the service of language and literature but also to the welfare of society. Step forward. Welcome the Insaan Website and join us in creating opportunities to support the oppressed, the underprivileged, and those in need. We warmly welcome you to this mission.

Founder — Anbar Shameem

Anbar Shameem (real name: Mohammad Abid Ali) is a poet, writer, and journalist. He was born on 11 January 1959 in Pilkhana, Howrah, West Bengal, India. He completed his education up to the School Final level. Due to financial hardships within the family, he was unable to continue his studies and had to begin searching for employment at an early age.

From Calligraphy to Journalism

Initially, he worked for a transport company, but the nature of the job did not suit his temperament, and he eventually left it. Since his interests had always been inclined toward language, education, and literature, he became actively involved in organizing literary gatherings and publishing literary magazines. During this period, he developed a friendship with a professional calligrapher, who — on learning of his difficult financial circumstances — introduced him to the daily newspaper Rozana Hind, edited by Raisuddin Faridi. At the newspaper office, the chief calligrapher tested him with a news report to copy in calligraphic style. Though untrained, he completed the task and was offered the job on the spot. He could soon complete a full newspaper column in just 10 to 15 minutes. A few months later, the West Bengal Urdu Academy opened a Calligraphy Training Centre, and he joined its very first batch to formally learn the art. Ironically, after mastering the proper technique, the same column took him nearly an hour — a fact that always reminded him of the couplet: “I could compose a hundred verses in a single gathering, before I truly understood the art of poetry.”

A Career in Urdu Journalism

After Rozana Hind, he went on to work for several other Urdu dailies, including Ghazi, Iqra, Akhbar Mashriq, and Aabshar. He served at Rozana Aabshar for 25 years, the last 10 as its News Editor, and later served as News Editor for the daily Awami News.

Publishing Ventures

Alongside his journalism career, he launched the quarterly literary magazine Dastak, which was widely appreciated across the Urdu literary world — though only five issues could be published. He also started a monthly children's magazine, Talib-e-Ilm, of which two issues appeared. He later launched the fortnightly newspaper Insaan, priced at ₹15 per copy. Despite his dedicated efforts, it closed after eight issues. He had even publicly pledged a monthly salary of ₹10,000 to any vendor who could sell 500 copies within a locality — but the initiative did not receive enough public support.

The Insaan Website — A New Chapter

Today, Anbar Shameem has embarked on a new journey by launching the Insaan Website.
